Preserving and Enhancing the Historic City of Vigan

Vigan City to collaborate with Palafox to form new land use and development plans

On December 3, 2020, the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (2021-2030), Zoning Ordinance, and Comprehensive Development Plan of Vigan City was awarded by the City Government of Vigan to Palafox Associates and Palafox Architecture Group. Founded in 1572, the historic city is one of the Philippines’ World Heritage Sites. It is recognized as one of Asia’s well-preserved examples of a Spanish colonial town that dates back to the 16th century. Included among its notable tourist spots are Calle Crisologo, the House of Father Burgos, the National Museum of the Philippines Ilocos Complex, and Vigan Cathedral.

The services and development plans that Palafox will provide in collaboration with the local government and various stakeholders will hopefully guide the city in preserving its rich cultural heritage, forming a holistic and strategic plan to address current and future challenges, achieving environment-friendly and sustainable development, and maximizing local economic impact, among others.
