The proposed design for the new College of Human Kinetics building exhibits the strength and uniqueness of Mindanaoan cultures and takes into consideration the urban and rural developments of the region. It sought inspiration from the distinctive qualities of Mount Apo and from Mindanaoan ethnic patterns, creating a rich combination of geometry from nature that inspired the indigenous patterns into a more dynamic form that is fitting for a human kinetics building. This also adheres to the vision of making UP Mindanao a garden campus emphasizing Mindanaon culture, with each building reflecting each ethnolinguistic group in the region.

Green architectural solutions are also incorporated namely: green walls, brise soleil, cross-ventilation, and Bernoulli’s Principle among others.
