For more than a century, the Dominican Hill Retreat House, built on top of the Dominican Hill in Baguio City, was a home to pioneering Dominican priests, a shelter for refugees during World War II, and served seminarians. Later on, it was adapted into the Diplomat Hotel, which for some time accepted guests until it finally closed its doors to the public.
Today, the Dominican Hill Heritage Site will undergo an intensive conservation management plan to repurpose the historical landmark — continuing the conservation and protection of cultural heritage resources and sustain the development of the Philippines’ Culture and Arts.
The Conservation of the Dominican Hill Heritage Site hopes to create new job opportunities for the local community and further boost economic growth for the city. Moreover, its conservation can provide the following benefits, among others:
