"Postcards from the Future" on 24 June 2016

On 16 March 2021, our country will be celebrating 500 years since the Western world discovered the Philippines. Goldman Sachs and HSBC also predicted that the Philippines will be in the top 20 economies of the world by 2025. With newly elected leaders this May 2016, how can we bring the Philippines well into the 21st century?
Architect-Urban Planner Felino "Jun" Palafox, Jr. will give a presentation and lead the discussion on creating a vision plan for the future development of the Philippines. This includes urban planning, architecture, urban design, urban renewal, inclusionary zoning, humanizing our streets, creation of urban growth centers outside of Metro Manila, and preparing our communities, towns and cities to be more livable, resilient, safer, smarter, and sustainable.
In our professional practice at Palafox Associates and Palafox Architecture Group, we make sure to go out of our office and observe our immediate community and the larger context of our cities and regions. Our architects, planners, engineers, and designers take pictures of the "uglification" of our cities and re-imagine them as renewed places for people – the art of place-making. We call these “Postcards from the future”.
